East Jersey Olde Town Village is a restored village in Middlesex County, New Jersey that provides a look into the way colonial settlers lived and progressed in their new world in the 1700s. With them, they brought their traditions, specifically religion and education. But they soon would change their ways as they adapted and evolved in the new world.

Summer is upon us all and with it comes some free, exciting and pretty entertaining events for everyone in or near the area. Spend all of your summer days and evenings soaking up the sun and catching the cool beats that have been put together for the community, by the community.

Music in the Park is a series of events that happen in summer evenings throughout the weeks. It is free for one and all to come in and join the fun. Bring your lawn chair, blanket or sit on the grass and hear some of the smaller, local bands play favorites all through the evening.

Middlesex County is once again featuring its famous Plays-in-the-Park, as it has been since 1963. The entertainment is held at Roosevelt Park in the city of Edison, and all activities are budget friendly. The Plays-in-the-Park are supported by Middlesex County Free Holders, and this is a big reason why entertainment in the park is so affordable.

Every summer the park holds three Broadway musicals, which includes a full orchestra, lighting, special effects and state of the art sound. These productions are held in the outdoor amphitheater, and patrons always look forward to these productions each year.

There are tons of places to take a hike in the Middlesex area. This community has a variety of parks, which provides a wealth of hiking trails for you to enjoy. Rather you are looking for a nice place to take a stroll, or a trail to test your abilities, you will find it all in Middlesex.

Some are paved, such as the loop around the lake at Roosevelt Park. Others are more of a challenge with a rocky landscape, including the trails in the Farrington Lake neighborhood. There are trails designed for families with small children, as well as those who are avid hikers.

Glenwood Country Club is a private golf club in New Jersey. Although this is a prestigious members only club, it has managed to keep rates at a budget friendly price. This is an 18-hole course that contains wooded areas, creeks and water hazards.

Glenwood Country Club was established in 1964, and was designed by Hal Purdy. Purdy had a well known name in the New Jersey area for designing golf courses. He has designed 25 courses just in the New Jersey area. Stephen Kay was the designer for the newly $2.3 million renovation that the course received.

From the back tees, the course has over 7,000 yards of play. There were additions of these back tees to allow seasoned players to advance their skill sets. There was a focus placed on bunker placement

Quail Brook Golf Course

Known as a river-friendly course, you can enjoy the different front and back nine. The front nine has rolling terrain and the back nine s hilly with tighter fairways. The course plays to about 6,600 yards from the back tees and includes a range, golf shop and snack bar.

Green Knoll Golf Course

A great course for all skill levels, Green Knoll provides both a full course and a nine-hole par three course in the picturesque Bridgewater Township. The full course plays to 6,443

If you love golf and you're new to New Jersey, the Rutgers University Golf Course should be high on your list of things to do very soon. Even if you've lived in the state all your life and just haven't played the course, this is the year to make your tee time at this Piscataway gem.

The course is tree-lined, PGA sanctioned and provides some of the best picturesque golf you will find in the state. The challenging layout may not be super long at only 6,300 yards, but it provides plenty of fun and plenty of challenge. The fairways are narrow, the greens are fast and the water hazards come into play on nine of the 18 holes.

The Rutgers University Golf Course is open from March 1st to December 15th every year for the public to play. They open early
