When Is the Best Time to Sell Your New Jersey Home?

When is the best time to sell your house? I’m a firm believer that there is a bright side to all markets and all seasons. Whether you're in a waterfront town like Perth Amboy or more inland, there are always advantages and disadvantages to selling your home no matter what time of year it is.

Traditionally, a lot of sellers say that they have heard spring is the best time to sell because a lot of people want to get kids into schools before the end of summer. There is some truth to that; a slice of the neighborhood markets such as The Landings, do time their moves according to the school year.

However, one of the downfalls to spring and summer selling is that there is a lot of competition. While there is a lot of movement, there is also a lot more inventory in the market.

During the fall and winter, inventory levels drop. Despite the cold and the holidays, it’s still a very active time for selling, especially considering how low interest rates are. Buyers are out there looking, no matter the season.

When you sell in the winter, you do have a good chance of selling your home because there is not a lot of competition. Buyers don’t have a lot of inventory to choose from and they have to make a decision based on the limited number of available homes.

The best time to sell is whenever you need to move.

No matter when you sell your home, you can position your home for a successful sale. If you have any questions, give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help you!
