The Zimmerli Art Museum has a very diverse collection of art. Many consider it a teaching museum due to its very dynamic programming. No matter what you are into, you are sure to find something you like here.

Large Art Collection

Currently this museum has an art collection that boasts over 60,000 pieces of work. That number is always increasing as the museum continues to add new works on a regular basis. Zimmerli's is committed to showcasing interdisciplinary perspectives.

They have many different special exhibitions on hand. You will see everything from in depth overviews of certain artists to shows that are provocative and thematic.

The social opportunities and educational activities make this a great experience for all age groups. If you want a deeper understanding of an artist’s world, be sure to stop by one of the lectures or performances. If you want to actually become the artist, attend a workshop or class.

Hours of Operation

The Zimmerli Museum is open Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 10am and 4:30pm. The first Tuesday of every month they are open until 9pm. They are also open on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5pm. The museum is not open on Monday's, major holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving or for the entire month of August.

If you plan on driving to the museum you will be required to pay for parking. You can find metered parking on many of the adjacent streets. More parking can be found in the parking garage at Gateway Center. Disabled visitors will have access to parking right in front of the museum.

If you would prefer not to drive you can take the train. The NJ Transit train is a short distance to the museum. Upon leaving the train station you will take College Avenue and walk about a block north until you get to Hamilton Street. Once there continue to walk east until you see the museum.
