Kearny Real Estate Market

Oceanport Homes for Sale

Kearny has three sections: the Kearny Meadows, the Kearny Uplands, and Kearny Point. A variety of parks provide recreational opportunities for residents. Riverbank Park is a collection of small parks along the Passaic River. One of those parks, Bunnyland Hill, is the spot where residents gather to watch the annual 4th of July fireworks celebration. It is also home to a summer music series and other seasonal events throughout the year. West Hudson Park is Kearny’s largest park and boasts sports fields, a water park, hiking trails, and a fishing pond.

Kearny has a long history as a factory town. In 1875, a Scottish textile company built two mills in Kearny and had built two more by 1890, bringing thousands of Scottish immigrants in to run the mills. The workers played soccer recreationally, thus beginning the trend that would ultimately give Kearny the nickname “Soccer Town, USA.” Many other textile mills followed suit and established mills in Kearny, and many other manufacturers would go on to establish their own operations in Kearny. Ships were built in Kearny during WWI and WWII.
