Within the public school system, 191 schools serve around 98,000 students. The largest schools enroll students in secondary education. These include Freehold Township High School, Manalapan High School, and Howell High School, with more than 1,800 students each.

Private elementary and secondary institutions in Monmouth County enroll approximately 20,000 students across 132 schools. Post-secondary education options include Brookdale Community College in Middleton Township and Monmouth University in the borough of West Long Branch.
