Mountainside Real Estate Market

Those moving to Mountainside will find home prices start in the $500,000s and go upwards of $1 million. Mountainside homes are some of the most beautiful homes in New Jersey, with four bedrooms or five bedrooms — sometimes more — with beautiful views. The higher up the mountain, the better the view of New York City, but of course, the higher, the higher the prices. There are not any apartments, condominiums, or townhouses here. All the homes are houses occupied by owners of single-family detached homes. Most of the homes that were built in Mountainside were built in the 1970s.

Mountainside Community Amenities

Just off the highway, the peaceful tree-lined streets make Mountainside a quiet and desirable community. The early zoning was designed to preserve the rural characteristics of Mountainside. There are quaint and popular retail shops and supermarkets, along the famous three-block retail district on Mountainside Avenue, which has been renovated and attracts many locals. The major malls are only a few minutes’ drive away, as well as popular restaurants.

There are many attractions including The Reservation, which has woodland trails, new playgrounds, and a planetarium. Echo Lake Park provides residents with many activities, such as boating, fishing, and local concerts. The most used recreational facility is the Mountainside Community Pool, which has facilities including an Olympic swimming pool, waterslides, and grassy areas for sunbathing and picnicking. Mountainside students go to a nearby high school located in the Berkeley Heights community, to which the borough pays the tuition. There are currently 220 students attending the school.
